We’re off to Anvil Island!

We’re looking forward to being back on Anvil Island for our annual weekend retreat.

Anvil Island is situated in beautiful Howe Sound, north of Horseshoe Bay. The summer camp facility features a central kitchen / dining hall with surrounding cabins and lodges. There are many activities (see below) and plenty of chances to relax.

This weekend is an opportunity to get to know each other better. Newcomers are especially encouraged to take advantage of this once a year chance to spend extended time together.

The Program

Come and enjoy a weekend of great simple meals, times of worship and prayer, reflection and discussion, and games and activities. There will also be plenty of time to spend on your own or with your family.

Free time activities include:

  • Indoor / outdoor sports: swimming, water sliding, hiking, frisbee golf, basketball, volleyball, gaga ball, floor hockey, etc.

  • Crafts, board games, naps, studying, coffee, chatting, etc.

 

More Info

    • Warm sleeping bag (only the Lodge is heated for families with small children)

    • Pillow

    • Flashlight

    • Warm clothes, swimwear, towel, toiletries, jacket, rain gear (rain boots!)

    • Bible, pen, notebook

    • Board games and other fun things you’d like to share with the community

    • Muscles for a couple of 30-minute shifts in the “dish pit”

  • We travel to and from Anvil Island by reserved water taxis from Horseshoe Bay, with two trip times offered each way.

    You will be able to select your preferred boat times. If adjustments need to be made, we will contact you first to ensure this is possible.

    Leaving Horseshoe Bay

    • Friday: 2 pm, 5 pm

    • Saturday: 8 am (limited number of spaces)

    Leaving Anvil

    • Sunday: 1:30 pm, 3 pm

  • Drive through downtown to the Lions Gate Bridge. Take the West Vancouver / Whistler off-ramp. Take the first right onto Taylor Way, drive up the long hill and turn left onto Hwy 1 West / Hwy 99 North. Drive 10 km and follow signs to Horseshoe Bay Village. Turn right on Keith Rd, and left on Bay St. Turn right at Nelson Ave., and unload at the red government dock.

    After you unload your vehicle, park either on the Keith St. surface lots or return to the Parkade. Carpool if you can!

    Allow a minimum of 60 minutes in order to get through Vancouver traffic on Friday.

  • Retreat costs include the $60 water taxi fee for travel to and from Horseshoe Bay, as well as food and lodging for the weekend.

    Your presence is important to us and we want to make it possible for everyone to come.

    We have provided different options for registration. If you're able to pay for the full cost of the retreat - that's great! If you need to make use of our subsidized options - that's great too!

    If you need further subsidy than offered in these registration options, please don't hesitate to reach out to a Leadership Team member.

    • Children 6 and over - first 2 children $155 / each, additional children $80/each

    Donations
    Donations towards subsidies for others gladly accepted. Simply add your donation amount to your retreat cost when you submit payment.

    • E-transfer to finance@marineview.org - Please indicate Retreat Fees in the message box.

    • Cheque made out to Marineview Chapel - Please indicate Retreat Fees on the memo line.
